Medici Vineyard
(1976-Present)

Medici VineyardHal Medici is related to the famous Medici family of Florence, Italy. In 1976 with encouragement from Dick Ponzi (founder of Ponzi Winery) Hal and Dorothy Medici started planting a vineyard on their land located above the town of Newberg on Chehalem Mountain.

The vineyard was planted in two increments of Pinot Noir. The first in 1976 and the second in 1988. Ponzi Winery produced an award winning 1980 Special Selection Pinot Noir from the Medici Vineyard.

Medici Vineyard continues to grow grapes for a number of well-known Oregon wineries. Medici also makes wine under the Medici label. Eric Hamacher and Peter Rosback have been winemakers for Medici wines.
